Year 1’s Exciting Adventure to the Red Earth Arts Precinct!
Monday the Year 1’s had an AMAZING day out on an excursion to Karratha, where we got a behind-the-scenes look at the Red Earth Arts Precinct (REAP). We met two awesome guides, Carla and Nic, who told us all about the super cool events that happen there!
First, we stopped by the Art Exhibition, featuring artwork from schools all around Karratha, Roebourne, and Wickham. We were totally blown away by the incredible pieces! Guess what? We even spotted ECE 1’s super deadly artwork on the second floor. You’ve got to go check it out – it's a must-see!!
Next, we headed into the Theatre Hall, the place where people watch movies, musicals, plays, and dances. We learned about all the cool tech behind the scenes, like stage lighting. There were switches, buttons, and dials everywhere that control the colour, movement, and brightness of the lights! It was like magic.
Then, we went down to the stage and looked up at the giant lighting cage hanging above us. Nic told us that the cage weighs as much as FIVE TRUCKS! Can you imagine? That’s why learning how to safely use the ropes and pulleys is super important.
Next, we checked out the Dressing Room, and wow—there were 24 mirrors! You could see yourself from every angle. It was like a mirror maze!
To finish our fun-filled day, we popped over to the Karratha Library, where we looked through books and practiced our best library manners. It was the perfect way to wrap up the day.
What a day of excitement, learning, and fun! We can’t wait for our next adventure!
